NOTES TO KNOW

• The Sooners have been dominant against unranked opponents this season, outscoring teams outside the AP Top 25 by an average of 27.3 points per game, with seven wins of 30+ points. Sunday's game marks OU's ninth road test of the season but its first SEC matchup against a team that isn't ranked or receiving votes in the AP poll. Earlier in conference play, the Sooners faced No. 16 Tennessee, (RV) Mississippi State, No. 2 South Carolina, No. 7 LSU, and (RV) Ole Miss on the road.

Payton Verhulst has been on a tear over her last five games, showcasing her all-around impact for the Sooners. The guard has scored in double figures in each contest, averaging 16.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks. She delivered back-to-back double-doubles against Kentucky and Ole Miss and erupted for 26 points at LSU. The stretch has seen Verhulst knock down 11 three-pointers and total 30 field goals while leading the Sooners to a 3-2 record – securing two key wins without All-American center Raegan Beers.

• The Sooners head into Sunday night ranked 16th in the AP poll, WBCA Coaches poll and the NET ranking. Oklahoma has appeared in every AP poll this season, opening at No. 10 and climbing as high as No. 8. The team is currently on a 23-week streak appearing in the AP poll – the fourth longest in program history and the longest since a 40-week run from 2015 to 2017.

• Oklahoma ranks third nationally in assists per game (21.8) and has dished out 20 dimes 15 different times this season and six times in conference play.

BUILDING THE RESUME

• The Sooners are ranked 16th in the latest NET rankings and have maintained a spot in the top-16 since the first ranking was released in December.

• OU's non-conference slate featured four projected NCAA Tournament teams – Duke, Louisville, Michigan and UNLV (74-24 combined record). The Sooners won at Louisville, a feat matched only by No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 10 NC State. They also routed UNLV by 30 in Vegas, snapping a 13-game home winning streak and beat then-No. 20 Michigan by double digits on a neutral floor.

• OU has played the nation's 22nd-toughest schedule and ranks eighth in Quad 1 wins with four. The Sooners are 10-6 vs. top-100 teams (17th nationally) and unbeaten in Quad 2-4 games (14-0), one of just 18 teams with a perfect record in such matchups.

• OU has been battle-tested against elite competition, with five of its six losses coming against teams ranked in the top 13 of the latest AP poll, including four against top-10 teams. Outside of the game at South Carolina, every loss was by 10 points or less.

A WIN WOULD...

• Improve the Sooners to 41-7 against unranked conference teams under Baranczyk and 5-1 this season. Since 2021, Oklahoma is 24-3 in true road games against unranked conference foes.

• Mark Oklahoma's first three-game winning streak in SEC play and first trio of wins since the Sooners won six in a row in December.

• Give Oklahoma its 19th win of the season, one shy of the program's fourth straight 20-win season under Baranczyk. OU has 17 20-win campaigns since the turn of the century and 25 in program history.

LAST TIME OUT

Skylar Vann matched her season high with 20 points and Payton Verhulst hit two free throws with four seconds left and scored 15 to help No. 16 Oklahoma hold off Auburn 73-71 on Monday night. Vann had five points and four assists in the first quarter to help the Sooners jump in front 12-2 before settling for a 21-17 lead.

SERIES HISTORY

• Sunday is the 61st meeting between the Tigers and Sooners, as Missouri is OU's second-most familiar foe in the SEC behind Texas. The Sooners own a 31-29 advantage in the series and have won the last seven meetings and 12 of the last 13. OU knocked off Missouri, 80-63, in Norman on January 16.

• The Tigers lead the series in Columbia, 14-10, but the Sooners have won six of the last seven at Mizzou Arena, with the lone loss coming in 2004.

UP NEXT

• The Sooners return to Norman to host Vanderbilt (18-7, 5-6 SEC) at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Lloyd Noble Center.

• The game will air on SEC Network Plus. The Commodores are one of OU's two remaining home games, both of which come vs. teams inside the top 25 of the NET (Vandy 22, Alabama 18).
