WBB Game Preview: Oklahoma Hosts East Texas A&M on Wednesday

November 18, 2025 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN — No. 8/7 Oklahoma (4-1) returns to Norman for a one-game homestand on Wednesday when OU hosts East Texas A&M (2-1) at Lloyd Noble Center.

Tip is set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ with Chad McKee and Pooh Williamson on the call. Fans can tune in to the Sooner Sports Radio Network (1520 AM) to hear Brian Brinkley and Carolyn Baker call the action, or listen in Spanish with Enrique Vasquez on Los Sooners Radio (1560 AM). Both radio broadcasts will be available on the Varsity App.

Wednesday marks Oklahoma's celebration of Native American Heritage Night. Three Sooners — Raegan Beers, Keziah Lofton and Zya Vann — proudly represent their Native American heritage.

OU checked in at No. 8 in this week's AP Top 25 after a four-game stretch that included a loss to No. 3 UCLA and three wins by 25 points or more. The Sooners have now appeared in three straight AP polls inside the top 10 for a second consecutive season and own a 32-week run in the AP Top 25, the fourth-longest streak in program history. Oklahoma is also ranked No. 7 in Tuesday's WBCA Coaches Poll.

Oklahoma won its third straight game on Sunday, defeating Western Carolina, 95-32, at the Ramsey Center in Cullowhee, N.C. The win marked the end of a six-day stretch that Oklahoma played four games in, going 3-1 in such contests, with the only loss coming to No. 3 UCLA in Sacramento last Monday night (Nov. 10). Oklahoma limited Western Carolina to just 32 points, tied for the second-fewest by an opponent in program history (25 vs. NC Central on 1/4/09) and the lowest allowed under fifth-year head coach Jennie Baranczyk

NOTABLES

• OU is powered by its four McDonald's All-Americans — Raegan Beers, Aaliyah Chavez, Payton Verhulst and Sahara Williams. All four average double figures and account for 68% of the Sooners' scoring and 58% of their rebounds. National freshman of the year candidate Aaliyah Chavez leads the group at 18.4 points per game, with the other three close behind in early-season production. Beers, Chavez and Verhulst were each named Tuesday to the Wooden Award Top 50 Watch List, with Beers appearing on every national player of the year watch list and Chavez and Verhulst also earning spots on the Naismith preseason list.

• OU has been tough to beat at home under Jennie Baranczyk, going 58-10 at Lloyd Noble Center over the last five seasons. The Sooners are 29-3 in non-conference home games since 2021 and ride a 12-game non-conference home streak. OU also enters Wednesday on an eight-game overall home winning streak, the second-longest in the SEC and top-30 nationally.

• Freshman Aaliyah Chavez was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after an elite three-game stretch. The Lubbock, Texas, product averaged 21.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 55.0% from the field, 52.0% from three (13 of 25), and a perfect 100% at the line. It's the first weekly conference honor for the top-ranked recruit in the 2025.

• OU enters Wednesday on a three-game winning streak — the program's 18th such run since 2021. Seven of the previous 17 ended in the fourth game, as the Sooners have posted 11 four-game streaks under Baranczyk. Last season, OU opened 6-0 and later recorded streaks of six and nine straight, the latter marking the program's longest run since a 20-game streak in 2008-09.

• Oklahoma remains the queen of the double-double. Courtney Paris set the NCAA standard with 112 straight during her legendary career, and now Raegan Beers carries the torch — leading the SEC with 48 career double-doubles, the second-most of any active player in the country. She is the only player in the country with three 20-point double-doubles in 2025-26.

The winner will advance to face the Florida State–Missouri State winner on Sunday, Nov. 30. The next Sooner home game is slated for Dec. 3 when OU hosts No. 16 North Carolina State at Lloyd Noble Center at 6 p.m. CT.
