NORMAN — The No. 11 Oklahoma men's tennis team came up short against No. 5 Texas on Sunday afternoon in Norman, dropping a Big 12 match for the first time this season, 4-1, and seeing its 11-match win streak come to a halt.

Fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik came away with the only point for the Sooners after he picked up a straight-set win at the No. 6 line, 6-3, 6-3.

The Sooners dropped the doubles points with losses at the one and three positions. Freshman pair Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki dropped only their second doubles match of the season.

Texas took a 3-0 lead as OU junior Jordan Hasson and fifth-year senior Justin Schlageter fell in straight sets on courts three and five.

Freshman Kholo Montsi dropped his match against No. 3 Micah Braswell on court two and the Longhorns claimed the win.

When play was stalled, OU sophomore Luis Alvarez was leading in the second set after dropping the first set. Fifth-year senior and No. 16 Alex Martinez was down a set and trailing in the second set.

UP NEXT

The Sooners host No. 33 Oklahoma State on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. in their final regular-season match of the year.
