Oklahoma's Big 12 Championship Run Ends in Semifinals

STILLWATER, Okla. — The No. 18 Oklahoma women's team ended its run at the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championship, falling to No. 7 Texas 4-2 in Friday's semifinal match.
The Sooners (18-6, 11-2 Big 12) were first to get on the board by claiming their 20th doubles point of the season over the Longhorns (21-4, 12-1 Big 12).
The No. 48 doubles pairing of Julia Garcia Ruiz and Zdena Safarova struck first day on court two, defeating No. 15 Taisiya Pachkaleva and Sabina Zeynalova, 6-1 for their highest ranked win of the season. For the second consecutive match, the duo of Alina Shcherbinina and Chloe Noel clinched the doubles point for OU with their 6-4 win over No. 74 Charlotte Chavatipon and Vivian Ovrootsky of Texas at the No. 3 spot.
On her birthday, Emma Staker picked up her third win of the tournament in singles with a 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 win on court six over Shachf Lieberman.
Elsewhere in the match, No. 31 Garcia Ruiz fell to No. 22 Malaika Rapolu 7-6(1), 6-4 at the top court. No. 115 Alina Shcherbinina was defeated by No. 37 Sasnouskaya 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 line. On court four, No. 60 Florencia Urrutia dropped to No. 120 Pachkaleva 6-2, 6-4, and Noel was defeated by Ovrootsky 6-4, 6-2 on court five.
