No. 9 Men's Tennis Prepped for Big 12 Championship

STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 9 Oklahoma men's tennis team is set to compete in the 2024 Big 12 Men's Tennis Championship at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center at the Oklahoma State campus beginning this Friday, April 19. The No. 2 seeded Sooners face the No. 7 seed Texas Tech in the opening round at 12 p.m.
Friday's matchup between the Sooners and the Red Raiders will be their second meeting of the season. OU swept Texas Tech in Lubbock on Thursday, March 21, marking their first conference win of the season.
REGULAR SEASON RECAP
- The Sooners completed the regular season with a 19-3 overall record and a 7-1 record in Big 12 play, good for a second place finish in the Big 12.
- Oklahoma only dropped one match on their home courts all season, for a 13-1 record at home.
- The Sooners notched nine wins over ranked team in the regular season: No. 57 Cornell, No. 14 San Diego, No. 33 VCU, No. 34 Middle Tennessee, No. 3 TCU, No. 29 UCF, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 31 Baylor and No. 33 OSU.
- OU currently holds their highest ranking of the season at No. 9.
OU AT THE BIG 12 TOURNAMENT
- The Sooners have won 32 Big 12 titles since 1929 with the most recent title coming in 2015.
WHERE THEY RANK
- Fifth-year senior Alex Martinez moved up three places to No. 7 in this week's ITA singles rankings (April 16).
- Freshman Kholo Montsi has a singles ranking of No. 64.
- Fifth-year senior pair Martinez and Baptiste Anselmo checked into the ITA doubles rankings at No. 53.
