No. 9 Sooners Advance to Big 12 Championship Semifinals

STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 9 Oklahoma men's tennis team is on to the semifinals after sweeping Texas Tech in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament. With the win, the Sooners have posted their first 20-win season since 2018.

The Sooners took the lead after winning the doubles points with wins on courts two and three. Freshmen Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki took a swift 6-1 win at the three line and sophomore Luis Alvarez and freshman Kholo Montsi clinched the doubles win at the two line, 7-5.

All six Sooners took leads with wins in their first sets. Alvarez was first off the court in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the four line and fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik was soon to follow with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No.6.

No. 64 Montsi came away with his second clinch of the day, winning 7-6(3), 6-0 at the two line over Tech's Reed Collier.

UP NEXT

The No. 9 Sooners take on No. 3 TCU in the Big 12 Championship semifinals at 3 p.m. at the Greenwood Family Tennis Center. The Sooners defeated TCU earlier in the season, 4-3, in Norman.
