March 08, 2024 | Men's Gymnastics

THE MEET

• No. 1 Oklahoma competes for the final time during the regular season at McCasland Field House on Saturday night when it hosts No. 9 Navy at 5:35 p.m. It is Senior Night and Alumni Night for the Sooners.

• The teams will compete head-to-head on each event, beginning on floor exercise and rotating in Olympic order.

TICKETS/PROMOTIONS

• Single-meet tickets for OU men's gymnastics are available for just $7 for adult general admission and $5 for youth (ages 6-18) and seniors (55+). Military members can receive discounted $3 admission by using promo code "Military" at SoonerSports.com/promocode. • Fans are encouraged to take advantage of $2 popcorn and sodas at the concession stands.

• Oklahoma will honor seniors Jack Freeman, Zach Nunez, Dan Simmons and Noah Giordano in a ceremony following the meet.

• The Sooners will also recognize alumni in attendance during the six-minute intermission between the third and four rotations.

• Prior to the meet, fans will have the opportunity to take photos with OU's national championship trophies, and the first 500 fans can receive a collectible Cup for Champions.

• Olympian, OU national champion and newly-elected CGA Hall of Famer Jonathan Horton will be on hand signing autographs for fans prior to the meet. Horton will also be recognized for his collegiate hall of fame selection during the intermission period.

• The University of Oklahoma enforces a clear-bag policy and walk-through metal detectors at all home athletics events. Review policies and prohibited items at SoonerSports.com/clearbags.

WATCH/FOLLOW

• Live scoring will be available via OUStats.com.

STICKS

• Following Saturday's meet, the Sooners travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for their regular season finale at Stanford with California. Oklahoma will host the MPSF Championship on April 6 at McCasland Field House with Air Force, Cal and Stanford. Tickets for the MPSF Championship are available at $5 for youth, $10 for adults and free for students of the participating schools, and can be purchased at SoonerSports.com.

• Oklahoma is unbeaten against its last 74 opponents, encompassing 63 consecutive meets, inside McCasland Field House, dating back to the 2007 season. The streak began on March 17, 2007, with a victory over Iowa. OU's last loss in the field house was March 3, 2007, against Ohio State.

• This will be the first meeting between the Sooners and the Midshipmen since the 2022 NCAA Qualifier at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman (OU topped Navy 407.290 to 399.023). It will be the first regular season matchup between OU and Navy since the 2019 season (416.700 to 400.600 OU victory in Annapolis, Md.) and Navy's first visit to Norman since the 2018 season (429.550 to 401.300 OU win).

• In its three home meets this season, Oklahoma is averaging a 414.300 team all-around score.

• The Sooners have won 34 individual event titles and 24 team event titles in seven meets this season. Junior Emre Dodanli paces OU with 10 event victories in his six meets, while sophomore Ignacio Yockers has claimed five event titles and redshirt sophomore Fuzzy Benas has three. Dodanli, who led the team with seven event titles in 2023, currently has the most individual event medals since Benas won 12 in 2022.

• On four occasions this season, all five Sooners in the vault lineup have score 14.000 or better: at Illinois (Jan. 28), vs. California (Feb. 10), at Simpson (Feb. 17) and at Michigan (March 2). OU has scored better than 72.000 on vault five times this season and no lower than 70.950 (coincidentally, that was at the Rocky Mountain Open, when it scored a nation-leading season high of 420.350 in the team all-around).

• Fifth-year senior Jack Freeman was named MPSF Specialist of the Week and Nico Hamilton was named CGA Co-Rookie of the Week and the MPSF Freshman of the Week after their performances at Michigan. Freeman, who won the award for the second straight week, scored a career high-tying 14.500 on high bar and a 13.750 on floor exercise. The high bar score eclipsed his previous season high by two tenths. Hamilton registered a career-high 14.800 on floor exercise and notched a 13.600 on parallel bars. His floor exercise tally included an incredible 9.5 execution score on the routine, and a stick bonus on the dismount. He is only the second gymnast nationally to score at least 14.800 on floor exercise this season (Dodanli is the other).

• Dodanli has recorded the three highest floor exercise scores in the nation this season (15.250 at Rocky Mountain Open, 15.050 vs. Cal and 14.900 at Michigan), and is the first gymnast nationally to register a 15-plus score on floor since the 2021 season. His 15.250 was the highest floor score nationally since the 2021 NCAA Finals (15.266 by OU's Gage Dyer). Benas' 85.200 all-around score at the Rocky Mountain Open is the highest in the nation so far this season.

• Oklahoma has posted the top two team all-around scores in the nation this season: 420.350 at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 20 and 417.800 vs. California on Feb. 10 in Norman. Three OU opponents (Michigan, Cal and Ohio State) have posted their season high total against the Sooners, while Illinois notched its highest score of the season at the time of the meet.

• Oklahoma's 70.950 on high bar vs. Cal was its highest score on the event since posting a 71.150 on March 9, 2019, and its first 70-plus score on high bar since March 16, 2019 (70.100). Christiansen notched a career- and team-season high 14.700, which was OU's highest individual score on high bar since the 2019 season.
