Sooners Claim Second Win on the Weekend

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team closed out a 2-0 weekend with a 4-1 win over Virginia Commonwealth Sunday morning
The Sooners picked up the doubles point in the match to take a 1-0 lead over the Rams. Fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik and junior Jordan Hasson earned a quick win at the two position. On court three, freshman pair Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki clinched the doubles point for the Sooners after earning a 6-2 win.
No. 54 Martinez matched up against No. 41 Mathis Bondaz at the one line where Martinez extended the lead for the Sooners after taking a straight-set win, 6-0, 6-1. The win is Martinez's third-straight ranked upset after he defeated then-No. 17 Radu Papoe from Cornell and No. 5 Oliver Tarvet from San Diego.
Hasson fell to Oscar Pinto Sansano on court two, as the Rams cut into the Sooners lead.
Mandlik earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over Tristan Piombo to put the Sooners up 3-1. Following a first-set win, freshman Kholo Montsi dropped his second set to send his match into a third set. Montsi fought back to clinch the match for the Sooners, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
