Sooners Host Texas on Tuesday

NORMAN – No. 11/13 Oklahoma men's basketball hosts RV/RV Texas on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Lloyd Noble Center. Tip is at 6:01 p.m. CT. The Big 12 conference contest will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network  (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing and be broadcast by ESPN with Rich Hollenberg (PxP) and Fran Fraschilla (analyst) on the call.

•  University of Oklahoma students can attend all 2023-24 men's basketball games for free. Students will need to show their ID at the lower north entrance at Lloyd Noble Center. 

•  Fans are encouraged to wear white to White Out Lloyd Noble Center. 

OPENING TIP

•  Oklahoma is ranked 23rd (games through 1/20) overall and sixth in the Big 12 in the NET. Nine Big 12 teams are in the top 40. Texas is 59th overall and 10th in the conference.

•  Junior Javian McCollum ranks fifth among NCAA DI active career leaders in free throw percentage (88.9%). In 69 career games, McCollum has made 177 free throws in 199 attempts.

•  OU earned its first road true road victory of the season on Saturday, Jan. 20, beating Cincinnati 69-65 at Fifth Third Arena. McCollum scored a team-high 16 points and added six rebounds. Sophomore Otega Oweh added 14 points and redshirt junior John Hugley scored 11 points.

•  OU improved to 15-3 overall with its win at Cincy, marking the first team to have 15 or more wins through their first 18 games since 2015-16. The 2015-16 squad posted a 16-2 mark.

LAST TIME OUT

•  Oklahoma earned its first true road victory of the season, beating Cincinnati 69-65 at Fifth Third Arena on Saturday, Jan. 20. Junior Javian McCollum led the Sooners with 16 points and sophomore Otega Oweh added 14. Redshirt junior John Hugley IV scored 11 points off the bench and junior Jalon Moore added nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

•  Both programs combined to go 9 for 35 (25%) in the first 12 minutes and entered halftime tied at 31, marking the first game this season the Sooners entered the break even. Cincinnati scored the first three points in the second frame before Oweh scored eight of OU's next 10 points. The Newark, N.J. product put OU ahead after making all three of his free throw attempts after being fouled on his first 3-point attempt.

•  In a game that witnessed nine lead changes, Oklahoma led for 20-plus minutes. OU shot 41.4% (24-58) from the field, 31.3% (5-16) from three and 88.9% (16-18) from the free throw line. OU's bench contributed 28 points.

AP POLL APPEARANCES

•  Oklahoma has appeared in the AP Poll 384 times (30.2%), ranking 22nd all-time. Since the 1984 season, the Sooners have appeared in 48.5% (364 times) of AP Polls and have an average rank of 12.1. OU has been ranked in the AP top 15 for seven consecutive weeks, marking the first time since the 2015-16 season. The 2015-16 Sooners were ranked in the AP top 10 all season.

RANKING SUMMARY (1/16)

•  Oklahoma ranks in the top 50 nationally in eight categories. The Sooners are seventh in three-point percentage defense (27.7%), 23rd in scoring margin (14.2 PPG), 23rd in rebound margin (7.6 RPG), 29th in field goal percentage defense (39.8%), 30th in field goal percentage (48.5%), 31st in free throw percentage (76.3%), 36th in scoring defense (65.1 PPG) and 39th in effective field goal percentage (55.0%).

•  Sam Godwin is 26th in NCAA DI and first in the Big 12 in offensive rebounds per game (3.4 RPG). Otega Oweh is 62nd nationally in field goal percentage (55.0%), 79th in steals (34) and 83rd in steals per game (1.9). Milos Uzan is 74th in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5), 892nd in assists per game (4.4) and 96th in assists (80).

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

•  Oklahoma holds a 75-25 record at Lloyd Noble Center since 2017. The Sooners have won 82.9% (608-125) of their games at LNC since the building opened in 1975. OU's winning percentage at Lloyd Noble Center is second in the Big 12 only to Kansas' 87.9% at Allen Fieldhouse (853-117).

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE

•  Oklahoma has the eighth toughest remaining schedule based on future opponent winning percentage. The Sooners' 13 remaining opponents have a combined 167-63 record (72.6%). Twelve of the top 15 teams are from the Big 12.

NOTHING BUT NET (1/20)

•  Oklahoma is 23rd in the NET and sixth in the Big 12 conference. The Sooners are 3-3 in quad one, 2-0 in quad two, 2-0 in quad three and 8-0 in quad four games.
