OKLAHOMA CITY – Former Oklahoma standout guard and nine-year NBA veteran Brent Price was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame on Monday, Aug. 7 during a ceremony at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
Fellow inductees included Dale Cook, Sandy Fischer, Chris Lincoln, James Trapp and Seymour Williams.
"Thank you to the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame for this incredible honor and special evening," said Price.
Price spent the 1990-91 and 1992-92 seasons with the Sooners after starting his collegiate career at South Carolina. He played in 65 games at OU and made 64 starts, averaging 18.0 points, 5.8 assists and 2.7 steals per outing while shooting .399 from 3-point range and .802 from the free throw line. He led the Sooners in assists and steals in both seasons.
En route to first-team All-Big Eight honors as a senior in 1991-92, Price averaged 18.7 points, 6.2 assists and 2.7 steals per contest.
As a junior, Price scored 56 points in a 172-112 win over Loyola Marymount, which still ranks as the second most points in a single game in program history and the most by any player inside Lloyd Noble Center. He also made 11 3-pointers on 19 attempts in that contest, both still OU records.
After his stellar Sooner career, Price was selected in the second round of the 1992 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets. He played nine seasons for the Bullets, Houston Rockets, Vancouver Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings.
Prior to his time with the Sooners and in the NBA, Price prepped at Enid High School, averaging 27.4 points per outing as a senior. During his junior campaign, he led Enid to the state tournament quarterfinals.
"Thank you for this validation of my contribution to the sport of basketball," said Price. "Especially in the state of Oklahoma. Where I was born, raised and love so much."
Price was preceded in Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame induction by his brother, Mark.
