NORMAN — Oklahoma soccer redshirt senior forward Emma Hawkins has been named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Hawkins, who scored five goals on opening weekend, shares the honor with Texas' Trinity Byars who equaled Hawkins' number of goals (5) and points (11) over the first two games.
Hawkins had an exceptional start to the season, scoring five goals in OU's two games and helping the Sooners to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2019. Hawkins tied the single-game school record for goals with a hat trick in OU's 6-0 opening win vs. Tulsa. The Forney, Texas, product also chipped in an assist to set the OU single-game record for points with seven. The hat trick was OU's first since 2019 and just the fifth in program history.
Hawkins followed her season-opening performance with a two goal effort vs. ORU Sunday evening. The brace marked the first time in her career the senior has had multiple goals in consecutive matches.
Hawkins is tied for first in the conference in goals (5), goals/game (2.5), points (11) and points/game (5.5) through the first weekend of play.
The Sooners return to the pitch Thursday night for an 8 p.m. CT match vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff at John Crain Field. The game can be seen via SoonerVision on ESPN+. Tickets are still available via SoonerSports.com/tickets.
