NORMAN — Oklahoma soccer redshirt senior forward Emma Hawkins has been named the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week, the organization announced the national honor Wednesday.
Hawkins, who scored five goals and recorded 11 points on opening weekend, shares the national lead in goals, goals per game, points and points per game.
Also named Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the week, Hawkins had an exceptional start to the season, scoring five goals in OU's two games and helping the Sooners to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2019. Hawkins tied the single-game school record for goals with a hat trick in OU's 6-0 opening win vs. Tulsa. The Forney, Texas, product also chipped in an assist to set the OU single-game record for points with seven. The hat trick was OU's first since 2019 and just the fifth in program history.
Hawkins followed her season-opening performance with a two goal effort vs. ORU Sunday evening. The brace marked the first time in her career the senior has had multiple goals in consecutive matches.
The national honor is OU's first national player of the week accolade since Renae Cuellar on Oct. 17, 2012.
The Sooners return to the pitch Thursday night for an 8 p.m. CT match vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff at John Crain Field. The game can be seen via SoonerVision on ESPN+. Tickets are still available via SoonerSports.com/tickets.
