Men's Hoops at No. 14/12 Baylor on Wednesday

NORMAN – Oklahoma men's basketball travels to Waco, Texas, for a Wednesday meeting against No. 14/12 Baylor. Tip is at 8 p.m. CT inside Ferrell Center.

Wednesday's game against the Bears will be broadcast on ESPNU starting at 8 p.m. CT with Mark Neely and Lance Blanks on the call. Fans may also listen on the Sooner Sports Radio Network  (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing.

In the Sooners' last outing, Grant Sherfield scored a team-high 16 points and buried four 3-pointers in the first half at West Virginia. Joe Bamisile finished with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting and Jalen Hill recorded a team-best eight rebounds and added six points. Bijan Cortes made his first career start and tallied six points, three assists and two rebounds.

SCOUTING THE BEARS

Scott Drew is in his 20th season as Baylor head men's basketball coach and has compiled a 414-228 record. Drew has led the Bears to a 17-6 record and 6-5 mark in conference play this season. In its last outing, BU topped Texas Tech 89-62 and completed the series sweep of the Red Raiders.

Keyonte George leads four Bears that average double-digit points and scores a team-best 17.2 points per game. George adds 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per outing. Adam Flagler records team highs in assists (5.0) and steals (1.4) per outing and scores 15.1 points per game. LJ Cryer averages 14.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. Jalen Bridges records team highs in blocks (1.1) and rebounds (5.9) per game and adds 10.1 points per game.

Baylor is ranked in the top 50 in 10 NCAA DI categories. BU is 14th in free throws made per game (16.9), 20th in free throw attempts per game (22.6), 25th in 3-pointers per game (9.2), 25th in offensive rebounds per game (12.7), 29th in 3-point attempts per game (25.8), 31st in scoring offense (78.9), 36th in scoring margin (9.9), 39th in rebound margin (5.0), 45th in assists per game (15.4) and 48th in free throw percentage (75.0).

RANKING SUMMARY

Oklahoma is ranked in the top 60 in two NCAA Division I categories. OU is 21st in 3-point percentage defense (29.8%) and 48th in field goal percentage (47.2%). The Sooners are second in the conference in effective field goal percentage (53.4%), field goal percentage and fouls per game (15.8 FPG). OU is third in defensive rebounds per game (25.2), 3-point percentage (35.3) and 3-point defense.

Grant Sherfield is 16th nationally in 3-point percentage (42.6%) and leads the Big 12. Sherfield is first in the league in 3-pointers made (58) and ranks second in 3-pointers per game (2.5). The Fort Worth, Texas product is third in field goal attempts (302), field goals (130) and free throw percentage (85.4%). Jalen Hill is 41st in free throw percentage (86.8%) and is second in the Big 12. Tanner Groves is 62nd in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (6.0) and is third in the conference.

Sherfield is 24th among active NCAA Division I career leaders in scoring average (15.4), 28th in assists (498), 29th in assist average (4.65) and 32nd in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.84). Sherfield is one of 35 active DI players with 1,500-plus points and 350 plus assists. Groves is 82nd in career rebounds (704).

NET/STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE

The Sooners are 61st in the NET (2/5) and Baylor is 13th. Of Oklahoma's eight remaining contests, the Sooners have seven quad one games and one quad two game. All 10 Big 12 teams are ranked in the top 71 and the conference has an average NET ranking of 26.8.

Oklahoma has the toughest remaining schedule based on future opposition winning percentage (130-47, 73.4%). All 10 Big 12 teams are in the top 39 and six are in the top 10.
