NORMAN – No. 11/12 Oklahoma men's basketball hosts Green Bay on Saturday, Dec. 16. Tip is at 8:01 p.m. CT inside Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. The non-conference contest will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing and be broadcast by ESPN+ with Chad McKee (PxP) and Bryndon Manzer (analyst) on the call.

FOR THE FANS

University of Oklahoma students can attend all 2023-24 men's basketball games for free. Students will need to show their ID at the lower north entrance at Lloyd Noble Center. Fans can purchase tickets for as low as $5 via SoonerSports.com/23Holiday and take advantage of a $5 concession combo (soda and hot dog). Fans are encouraged to wear their ugly holiday sweater and arrive early for pictures with Santa.

OPENING TIP

•  Oklahoma is ranked 15th (games through 12/13) overall and fifth in the Big 12 in the NET. Seven Big 12 teams are in the top 50. Green Bay is 239th overall and seventh in the Horizon League.

•  Oklahoma is one of seven teams that have remained undefeated to start the 2023-24 season. Oklahoma is joined by fellow Big 12 members Baylor and Houston.

•  With its victory over Arkansas, OU improved to 9-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 Final Four campaign. In the previous 20 seasons, the Sooners have won their first nine games three times (2008-09, 2015-16 & 2023-24). OU finished the 2008-09 campaign 30-6 and advanced to the Elite Eight. The Sooners reached their fifth Final Four in 2015-16, finishing with a 29-7 mark overall.

•  OU's 9-0 start is tied for the ninth-best start in program history with the 1999-00 season. With a victory against Green Bay, the Sooners would move into a tie for 7th with the 1991-92 and 2003-04 seasons. 

•  With OU's victory against the Friars, Porter Moser achieved his first 8-0 start as a head coach. During the 2017-18 Final Four campaign at Loyola-Chicago, Moser guided the Ramblers to a 7-0 mark before dropping its first game of the season at Boise State. 

•  Under Porter Moser, Oklahoma is 10-2 in non-conference neutral site games, including victories over USC, Iowa and Arkansas in 2023-24 and wins over Nebraska, Seton Hall, Ole Miss and Florida in 2022-23. OU's two losses were to Utah State in the 2021 Myrtle Beach Invitational Championship game and Arkansas in the 2022 Crimson & Cardinal Classic.

LAST TIME OUT

•  Oklahoma led for 29-plus minutes and dominated Arkansas 79-70 in the third Crimson and Cardinal Classic. Junior Javian McCollum recorded a team-best 20 points and finished 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Sophomore Otega Oweh added 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting. Senior Rivaldo Soares wrangled a team-best seven rebounds and added 13 points. Sophomore Milos Uzan scored 11 points and swiped a team-high three steals. 

•  Oklahoma entered the break up 37-25 and held its advantage for the entire second half. The Sooners pushed their lead to 19 points with 15:20 remaining. 

•  OU won the battle in the paint (36 to 26 points) and on the glass (33 to 25 rebounds). The Sooners shot 51.0% (20-50) from the field, 38.9% (7-18) from three and 78.6% (22-28) from the line.

AP POLL APPEARANCES

•  Oklahoma has appeared in the AP Poll 378 times (29.9%), tying for 22nd all-time. Since the 1984 season, the Sooners have appeared in 48.1% (358 times) of AP Polls and have an average rank of 12.2. OU is ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll for the first time since week 14 of the 2020-21 season when the Sooners were ranked seventh.

•  Oklahoma ranks in the top 50 nationally in 11 categories. The Sooners are fifth in three-point percentage defense (25.7%), seventh in free throw percentage (79.0%), eighth in scoring margin (21.9 PPG), 12th in field goal percentage (50.9%), 19th in effective field goal percentage (57.6%), 19th in field goal percentage defense (38.3%), 22nd in scoring defense (62.9 PPG), 27th in rebound margin (9.3 RPG), 27th in scoring offense (84.8 PPG), 45th in bench points per game (28.4 PPG) and 49th in defensive rebounds per game (28.2 RPG).

•  Otega Oweh is fourth in NCAA DI and first in the Big 12 in field goal percentage (69.1%). Sam Godwin is 12th nationally and first in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (3.9 RPG). 

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

•  Oklahoma holds a 70-25 record at Lloyd Noble Center since 2017. The Sooners have won 82.8% (603-125) of their games at LNC since the building opened in 1975. OU's winning percentage at Lloyd Noble Center is second in the Big 12 only to Kansas' 87.9% at Allen Fieldhouse (851-117).
