At the media timeout, the Sooners led 15-13 and extended their lead to 17-13 on an ace from Corral-Blagojevich. OU was the first to 20 points on a kill from Preston and took a five point lead off a Thompson service ace. Iowa State used a 5-1 run to pull within one at 23-22. The Sooners closed it out on back-to-back kills from Shelton to win the set, 25-23.

The Sooners took a 10-7 lead in the third to force a Cyclone timeout. OU extended its lead to 15-8 on an ace from Thompson to close out a 4-0 run. Iowa State pulled within three on a 4-0 run of their own but the Sooners responded by extending their lead to 18-12.
