Sooners Drop Match at No. 17 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 4 Oklahoma women's tennis team fell to No. 17 Ohio State, 5-2, on Sunday in Columbus.
The Sooners kicked off the match with a clinched doubles point. Carmen and Ivana Corley grabbed the top-court 6-1 win over Isabella Boulais and Kolie Allen. To secure the opening point, No. 22 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth notched court two against Sydni Ratliff and Shelby Bereznyak 6-2.
Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman were down 5-2 when play was halted.
The Buckeyes led the way in singles. First to finish, Ohio State's Shelly Bereznyak defeated Ivana Corley on court four, 6-0, 6-0. They followed it up with another victory on court six, where Garcia Ruiz fell to Lucia Marzal 6-1, 6-3. Guzman was next to come up short on court three as No. 30 Irina Cantos Siemers took the match 7-6 (6), 6-0. To clinch for Ohio State, OSU's No. 15 Sydni Ratliff claimed the top court over Sleeth, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Court five played out and Emma Staker fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to No. 116 Kolie Allen.
No. 91 Carmen Corley was up 2-6, 7-5, 3-2 at the No. 2 court against Isabella Boulais, before Boulais defaulted and gave OU the point

Oklahoma will play as a host of ITA Kickoff Weekend as they welcome Minnesota, Texas Tech and Tulsa for the Jan. 28-29 weekend. They will play their first match against Minnesota on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. CT.
