Men's Hoops Announce Non-Conference Schedule

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma men's basketball head coach Porter Moser announced the Sooners' 2022-23 non-conference schedule Wednesday.
OU will play seven non-conference games at Lloyd Noble Center and a total of13 games against out-of-conference opponents.
"Once again, our non-conference schedule is one of the best in the country," said Moser. "We play 18 Big 12 games and then add Arkansas, Florida, Alabama and Villanova out of league play, making our schedule elite."
OU opens its slate of games with an exhibition against Oklahoma City University on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners play four consecutive home contests to begin the regular season.
OU opens the 2022 season against Sam Houston State Monday, Nov. 7 and concludes the week with a contest against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday, Nov. 11. The Sooners are 5-0 all-time against Sam Houston State
In the 2003 meeting against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Oklahoma won 94-24, registering the fourth-largest victory margin in program history.
OU then hosts UNC Wilmington Tuesday, Nov. 15 and South Alabama Friday, Nov. 18. The Sooners hold a 2-1 mark against USA and will face UNCW for the first time.
"Last year the students made a huge difference in making Lloyd Noble Center a great college basketball venue," said Moser. "I look to further my efforts with the students and show them how important they are to our OU basketball family. They bring an energy to the building and their presence impacts our program. Our home non-conference schedule will provide an excellent opportunity to see our 2022-23 team."
Oklahoma makes its first travel trip of the year for the ESPN Events Invitational near Orlando, Fla., Nov. 24, 25 and 27 and face former Big 12 foe Nebraska in the opening round Thursday, Nov. 24. Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Nebraska 104-83 and the two teams last played in 2011.
The Sooners and Huskers are joined by Florida State, Memphis, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, Siena and Stanford and will play either Memphis or Seton Hall in the second round.
OU remains on the road for the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle and a battle against Villanova at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Sooners and Wildcats have met five previous times and last played at Villanova during the 2005-06 season.
The Sooners return to LNC and host Kansas City Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The Crimson and Cardinal Classic returns for the second consecutive season and marks a battle between Oklahoma and Arkansas at the BOK Center in Tulsa Saturday, Dec. 10. The Sooners won the inaugural meeting and beat the Razorbacks 88-66 last season.
The Sooners are 3-0 all-time at the venue and have won eight of the last 12 meetings against the Razorbacks.
OU hosts Central Arkansas Saturday, Dec. 17 and travels to Charlotte, N.C., to battle the Florida Gators in the inaugural Jumpman Invitational at the Spectrum Center Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The Sooners play their final non-conference game Saturday, Jan. 28 against Alabama in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
Oklahoma is 6-3 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge with wins over Alabama, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, LSU, Missouri and Texas A&M. OU earned the 66-61 victory over the Crimson Tide during the 2020-21 season.
