NORMAN – Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Porter Moser announced the addition of preferred walk-on Sam Godwin to the 2022-23 roster Thursday.

"Excited to have Sam join the Sooner family," said Moser. "Being from Ada, he has tremendous pride in the state of Oklahoma and the Sooners. He will play a pivotal role in what we are building on and off the court. I look forward to his development and the energy he will bring every day."

Godwin, a Ada, Okla., product, started his collegiate career at Wofford. He appeared in 52 games with the Terriers and earned 17 starts. He was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team after the 2020-21 season and averaged 6.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest. Prior to his time in Spartanburg, S.C., Godwin enjoyed a stellar prep campaign at Southmoore High School. He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in blocks and rebounds and was named the 2020 Southmoore Male Athlete of the Year.
