OU to Host Alabama in SEC/Big 12 Challenge

NORMAN – The Big 12 and SEC conferences announced the matchups for the 2023 SEC/Big 12 Men's Basketball Challenge Thursday.
 
Oklahoma is slated to host Alabama Saturday, January 28. Television designations and game times will be announced when available.
 
The 10th annual event will consist of 10 games as every Big 12 member faces 10 programs from the SEC Conference. This will mark the eighth consecutive year for all games to be played in one day. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise the contests. Each conference has five home games and five on the road.
 
Big 12 teams are 48-41 (.539) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Big 12 has a yearly Challenge record of 4-3-2 with wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. One game was canceled in 2021 due to COVID. Ties occurred in 2017 and 2020.
 
Oklahoma is 6-3 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge with wins over Alabama, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, LSU, Missouri and Texas A&M. OU earned the 66-61 victory over then-No. 9 Alabama during the 2020-21 season.
 
The Sooners hold a 9-1 record in their last 10 games against SEC schools and entered the 2022 Big 12/SEC Challenge with a nine game winning streak.
 
Oklahoma tallied a pair of victories last season against SEC schools ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll. OU earned a 74-67 victory over then-No. 14 Florida in Norman and a 88-66 victory over then-No. 12 Arkansas at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
