First Pitch

• Oklahoma (27-15) travels to Dallas for a midweek road contest against Dallas Baptist (26-17) on Tuesday. Game times is set for 6:30 p.m. at Horner Ballpark.
• This will be the second meeting this season between OU and DBU. The Sooners won the first, 8-7, on March 8 in Norman.

Leading Off

• Through 11 weeks of the season (42 games), the Sooners are 14-10 against the RPI top 100, including eight top-50 wins (8-8) and five top-25 wins (5-6). OU's overall strength of schedule is ranked 20th in the country while its non-conference SOS is ranked 17th nationally.
• Redshirt sophomore first baseman Blake Robertson ranks among the national and Big 12 leaders in several categories: .529 OBP (fifth nationally; 2nd in Big 12), 46 walks (third nationally, second in Big 12); 18 doubles (16th nationally; second in Big 12), .387 batting average (44th nationally; third in Big 12).
• Since April 2 (18 games), Robertson has batted .478/.621/.812 (33 for 69) with 27 RBIs, 26 runs, 12 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 24 walks and 12 strikeouts. He has reached base in 28 straight games.
• Oklahoma is hitting .301 as a team and averaging 7.7 runs, 10.1 hits and 3.4 extra base hits per game (92 doubles, 38 home runs). The pitching staff has compiled a 5.33 ERA, 373 strikeouts to 157 walks and 400 hits in 378.1 innings and has allowed a .272 opponent batting average.
• Oklahoma posted a 12-6 record during the month of April (including wins in nine of its last 11 games of the month). Offensively, the Sooners batted .312 and averaged 9.7 runs, 11.2 hits and 3.9 extra base hits in 18 April games.
• Dallas Baptist is hitting .281 as a team. The Patriots average 6.3 runs, 9.6 hits and 3.8 extra base hits per game (89 doubles, 63 home runs). The pitching staff has compiled a 4.76 ERA, 407 strikeouts to 180 walks and 365 hits in 378.1 innings and has allowed a .251 opponent batting average.
• Oklahoma is in its fifth season under the direction of head coach Skip Johnson (including the 2020 season that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson, who spent the 2017 season on staff as an assistant coach, has led the Sooners to a 139-95 record since taking over as head coach prior to the 2018 season.

Series History

• Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Dallas Baptist 26-14. The Sooners won the first meeting this season, 8-7.
• The Patriots lead the series in Dallas, 5-3, and won the last meeting at Horner Ballpark (7-2 in 2019).
• The Patriots won last season 9-3 at the Frisco College Baseball Classic in Frisco, Texas. OU won 21 of the first 23 meetings between the programs (1978-2010). DBU won eight in a row between 2011-15. Since 2016, OU and DBU have won each meeting in their own metro area.

Noting the Sooners

• During the first 10 games of the season, Oklahoma scored a total of 35 runs (average of 3.5 per game) and did not score more than six runs in any game. Since then, the Sooners have scored 288 runs over the last 32 games (9.0 per game). OU has scored at least seven runs in 26 of those 32 games, and has posted a 21-10 record in that span.
• OU is 77 for 99 on stolen base attempts in the last 32 games (average of 2.4 steals per game). Over the last 32 games, Peyton Graham leads the Sooners with 14 steals while Tanner Tredaway has 11 steals.
• For the season, Blake Robertson leads the Sooners with a .387 batting average (60 for 155), 46 walks, 18 doubles and a .529 OBP. Graham has team bests of 12 home runs, 42 RBIs (tied) and 50 runs scored while batting .343 (58 for 169). Tredaway is batting .331 (57 for 172) with a team-high 42 RBIs (tied), 11 doubles, three homers and 32 runs scored and Jimmy Crooks is hitting .310 (45 for 145) with 32 walks, 27 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
• OU has posted two separate eight-game stretches scoring at least seven runs: March 8-19 and April 12-24. The Sooners had a similar eight-game scoring run between March 9-21 of last season, but have only scored at least seven runs in eight or more games four times in the last 11 years. Oklahoma opened the 2011 season by scoring at least seven runs in nine consecutive games.
• During a nine-game stretch over two weeks (March 29-April 12), the Sooners played eight games against opponents ranked among the top-8 nationally. OU went 5-4 overall during that stretch (4-4 vs. ranked foes Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech).
• During its 12-game homestand (9-3 record at L. Dale Mitchell Park from March 8-27), Oklahoma turned up the offense. The Sooners batted .336 with 40 extra base hits (average of 3.3 per game), 26 doubles, 12 home runs, 67 walks (5.6 per game) and 29 stolen bases. OU totaled 100 runs (8.3 per game) and registered 133 hits (11.1 per game).

Recapping the Last Week

• Oklahoma won its three-game Big 12 series against Kansas State, winning by scores of 14-2 and 22-10 before falling 8-7 on Sunday. OU fell at Oral Roberts on Tuesday 5-1.
• Jake Bennett was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after striking out 11 batters over 7.0 shutout innings in the series opener on Friday. His 11 punch outs tied a career high and was his third tally of 10 more strikeouts this season. Bennett has lasted at least 6.0 innings in seven of his 11 starts and allowed three or fewer runs in eight starts this year.
• Jackson Nicklaus homered in all three games and registered six RBIs, five runs and a .538 batting average (7 for 13). He also posted a 1.308 slugging percentage on the weekend. John Spikerman hit .700 in two games (7 for 10), doubled three times, scored five runs and drove in four runs. He scored on an error after stealing second base and made it all the way around the bases on a double and an error on Saturday.
• Jimmy Crooks batted .500 with four of his six hits going for doubles, and Peyton Graham hit two homers and drove in six runs in the series. Spikerman led the Sooners with two stolen bases.
• Oklahoma batted .418 in the series with 17 doubles and eight home runs. OU concluded the weekend with 43 runs on 46 hits in the three games. This was the second straight weekend in which the Sooners compiled more than 40 runs and 40 hits and drew 26 walks in their three-game series (had 46 runs on 46 hits and 26 walks last week at Kansas).
• The loss on Tuesday was Oklahoma's first midweek defeat of the season. The Sooners are now 8-1 in midweek games. At ORU, the Golden Eagles scored three runs in the first inning and OU was unable to overcome the deficit, registering four hits in the game and scoring its only run in the seventh inning on a wild pitch.

Base Snatchers

• The Sooners have registered 99 stolen bases in 127 attempts through 42 games this season. OU surpassed its total from all of last year (46 steals) in the 18th game of this season. The last time Oklahoma completed a season with at least 100 steals was in 1996 (104).
• Oklahoma ranks sixth nationally in stolen bases (99) and seventh in steals per game (2.4). Both figures rank second in the Big 12, only to West Virginia's 135 steals and average of 3.2 steals per game.
• OU has registered at least 100 steals in a season 12 times since 1962. The first was in 1973 (106) and the last was in 1996. The school record for steals is 192, set in 1975.
• Peyton Graham leads OU with 17 stolen bases, while Tanner Tredaway and Kendall Pettis have 15 steals. Blake Robertson has collected 11 steals and catcher Jimmy Crooks has nine steals. The last time OU had at least one player with 13 steals at the end of a season was 2013 (16 by Craig Aikin and 13 by Matt Oberste). A total of 14 players have recorded at least one stolen base this season.
• Oklahoma has registered at least 10 steals in a game twice this season. OU went off for 11 steals against Wichita State on Feb. 22 and stole 10 bases on April 16 vs. Pacific.
• Three players — Graham, Pettis and Tredaway — each had three stolen bases in the Feb. 22 game vs. Wichita State. Graham notched three steals again vs. Texas on April 2. It was the fourth time a single player has registered three steals in a single game this season.
• Prior to Feb. 22, no single Sooner had stolen three bases in a game since Erik Ross against Hartford in 2012. Oklahoma (3-1) finished the Wichita State game one steal shy of the school record of 12, set in 1937 against East Central (Okla.) University.
