Sooners Claim 11th Straight Victory

AMES, Iowa — The No. 2 Oklahoma women's tennis team claimed their 11^th victory in a row, with their 5-2 win over No. 26 Iowa State.

In doubles, the No. 5 duo Ivana and Carmen Corley took down Christin Hsieh and Thasaporn Naklo at the top court, 6-2. Iowa State's Ange Oby Kajuru and Chie Kezuka defeated Anchisa Chanta and Dana Guzman on court three, 6-3. To clinch the opening point, Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva dominated Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas, 6-2, to claim the No. 2 court.

Singles started with only four courts in action due to space issues at Iowa State. Sophomore Dana Guzman claimed court four with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-0) win over Anna Supapitch Kuearum.

The Cyclones answered with a court two victory from Thasaporn Naklo over OU's Carmen Corley, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The Sooners claimed the next two courts to secure the victory. Junior No. 17 Layne Sleeth took the top court against Ange Oby Kajuru, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, to extend the lead to 3-1. To clinch the victory, freshman Anchisa Chanta defeated Miska Kadleckova, 3-6, 7-6 (10-2), 6-2, on court four.

The match played out with the final two courts beginning. Iowa State's Chie Kezuka won 6-3, 6-2 over OU's Alexandra Pisareva to give the Cyclones another tally on the board. Freshman Emma Staker took the final court at the No. 6 spot over Sofia Cabezas with her 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) win to close the match.
