OU Falls to No. 4 Baylor

WACO, Texas — The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell 6-1 to the No. 4 Baylor Bears in Waco, Texas, Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Jordan Hasson notched the Sooners' (13-7) lone win of the match.

Baylor notched the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. At the top spot, No. 4 Jake Finn Bass and Sven Lah tallied a 6-0 victory over No. 73 Welsh Hotard and Alex Martinez. No. 21 Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi and Matias Soto secured the point for Baylor with a 6-3 win over Baptiste Anselmo and Mark Mandlik on court two.

When play was halted, Mason Beiler and Nathan Han were down 3-4 against Adrian Boitan and Tadeas Paroulek on court three.

In singles play, Mazzuchi struck first for Baylor with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Han on court six. Hasson responded for the Sooners, picking up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Marko Miladinovic on court four following a pair of rain delays. On court five, Justin Schlageter fell to Paroulek 6-4, 7-5. The match was clinched on court three with No. 115 Fin Bass defeating No. 82 Mandlik 6-4, 7-6 (1).

The remaining courts played out. No. 73 Lah picked up the win over Martinez in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. At the top spot, No. 41 Beiler took it to three sets but fell to No. 38 Soto 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (5).

UP NEXT

OU returns home to close out the remainder of regular-season competition with matches against Texas and TCU. The Red River Rivalry against the Longhorns is slated for 4:30 p.m. CT, Thursday, April 14, at the Headington Family Tennis Center and will be broadcasted on Bally Sports OK. The Sooners' match against TCU will take place Saturday, April 16, at 5 p.m. CT.
