Sooners Close Regular Season Against No. 1 TCU

NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to No. 1 TCU 5-2 in the Headington Family Tennis Center, Saturday evening to close regular-season competition.

Mason Beiler and Nathan Han notched a 6-2 win on court three over Pedro Vives and Juan Carlos Aguilar in doubles competition, but the Horned Frogs went away with the doubles point. On court two, Baptiste Anselmo and Mark Mandlik dropped the match 6-3 against No. 11 Sander Jong and Lui Maxted. No. 79 Welsh Hotard and Alex Martinez fell to No. 2 Luc Fomba and Jacob Fearnley 6-3 at the top spot.

In singles play, Mandlik struck first for OU with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 spot over Vives. Mandlik's victory tied the match at 1-all. Anselmo fell to No. 81 Fearnley 7-6 (2), 7-5 on court three. Freshman Jordan Hasson responded with a ranked win over No. 91 Maxted in 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 fashion on court five. Hasson's victory tied the match at 2-all.

On court six, Hotard battle hard in a first-set tiebreak that went to 13 points, but fell 7-6 (11), 6-4 to Tomas Jirousek. At the top spot, No. 50 Beiler took the match to three sets, but fell 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-2 to No. 18 Fomba. Play continued and Martinez fell to No. 45 Jong 6-1, 6-7 (5), 7-5 on court two.
