OU Falls to No. 12 Texas

NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 12 Texas at the Headington Family Tennis Center, Thursday afternoon.

The Longhorns got on the board first, taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Mason Beiler and Nathan Han secured a win on court three, defeating Chih Chi Huang and Evin McDonald in 6-4 fashion. No. 3 pair Richard Ciamarra and Cleeve Harper tallied a 6-4 win over No. 79 Welsh Hotard and Alex Martinez at the No. 1 spot. On court two, No. 15 Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab notched a 7-6 (6) win to clinch the point over Baptiste Anselmo and Mark Mandlik.

Freshman Jordan Hasson fell to Ciamarra 6-1, 6-2 on court four. No. 61 Eliot Spizzirri defeated Mandlik 6-4, 6-3 on court three. On court six, Hotard fell 6-4, 6-4 to Huang. Martinez fought hard but fell to No. 35 Pierre-Yves Bailly 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 on court two. Justin Schlageter fell to Harper 6-4, 6-4 on court five. No. 50 Beiler took it to a 10-point tiebreaker but fell to No. 22 Braswell 7-5, 6-7 (5), 1-0 [10].

The Sooners return to the court Saturday at 5 p.m. CT to take on No. 1 TCU. Mason Beiler and Matt Rodriguez will be honored pre-match for Senior Day.
