NORMAN — The No. 3 Oklahoma women's tennis team tallied their seventh sweep of the season after defeating Illinois 4-0 on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The Sooners opened the match with a clinched doubles point over the Fighting Illini. Anchisa Chanta and Emma Staker claimed court three, 6-3, against Emily Casati and Kasia Treiber. Ivana and Carmen Corley secured the opening point for OU, taking the top court, 6-4, over Kate Duong and Megan Heuser.
In singles action, Anchisa Chanta finished first for the Sooners, taking court four, 6-2, 6-2, over Megan Heuser. Extending the leading, Sasha Pisareva defeated Kasia Treiber, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 5 spot.
To clinch the match and send the Sooners to victory, freshman Emma Staker took down Kida Ferrari, 6-3, 6-1, on court six.
When play was halted, Ivana Corley had a 7-5, 0-2 advantage on court two, Carmen Corley was up 6-2, 2-3 on court three and Sleeth had a 6-2, 4-1 leg up on the top court.
