Oklahoma Falls to St. Bonaventure

NORMAN – Despite another 25-plus point outburst by Umoja Gibson, Oklahoma men's basketball dropped its NIT second round game to St. Bonaventure 70-68 at Lloyd Noble Center Sunday night.
Gibson finished the night with 26 points on 10-for-17 shooting and tallied six 3-pointers. The senior sharpshooter recorded 16 of his points in the first 20 minutes and was joined by forward Jalen Hill with double-figure points (13).
The Sooners fell behind early but showed their resiliency as they had done all season.
The Bonnies held a 10-2 advantage through the first four minutes of the contest and Oklahoma continued to chip away and gained its first lead of the game on a Gibson three.
OU entered halftime with a 3-point advantage thanks to another Gibson 3-pointer with three seconds remaining.
The back-and-forth battle continued into the second half.
St. Bonaventure matched its biggest lead of the game with 10:38 left after a three pushed the score to 54-46.
The Sooners went on a 12-2 run over the next five minutes to recapture the lead before SBU's Kyle Lofton tied it at 58.
The Bonnies buried a 3-pointer on their next position and never relinquished the lead.
With 25 second remaining, St. Bonaventure held a 69-65 advantage after a pair of free throws. Gibson continued his shooting display with his final three of the night with 18 second left to cut the lead back to one.

I hate to see it end for these guys. I think anytime when you come to an end and you're not going to be with the group anymore because we asked so much of this group. New coaching staff, new teammates coming together. We were in a tough stretch when EJ (Elijah Harkless) got hurt and came back and we asked them to regroup.
