Sooners Will Honor Four Seniors

NORMAN – Oklahoma (15-14, 5-11 Big 12) hosts West Virginia (14-15, 3-13 Big 12) Tuesday, March 5 at Lloyd Noble Center for the home regular season finale.

OU last played Saturday, Feb. 26 and earned the 66-62 overtime Bedlam victory over Oklahoma State. Tanner Groves led Oklahoma in points (14), rebounds (10) and assists (4). Groves earned his first double-double in the Crimson and Cream. Five Sooners finished in double figures, including 10 points by Marvin Johnson, who had the game-sealing steal and layup.

The Sooners will hold a Senior Day ceremony for Ethan Chargois, Jordan Goldwire, Johnson and Umoja Gibson.

Doors to the arena open one hour before tip and the Lloyd Noble Center's clear-bag policy is in effect.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

  • West Virginia (14-15, 3-13 Big 12) last competed Saturday, Feb. 26 and fell to No. 20 Texas 82-81. WVU lost their last six games and its last win came Feb. 8 against Iowa State in Morgantown.
  • Taz Sherman is West Virginia's leading scorer (18.3 PPG) and team leader in assists per game (2.4). Sherman has 495 points this season and shots 41.9% from the field (168-401). Gabe Osabuohien boasts 5.5 rebounds per game.
  • WVU is 14th nationally in free throw attempts (441) and 21st in free throws made (441). The Mountaineers are 32nd in total blocks (137), turnover margin (3.1) and turnovers forced (15.3).

OKLAHOMA VS. WEST VIRGINIA TIDBITS

  •  Oklahoma and West Virginia are slated to meet for the 25th time Tuesday OU holds a 15-9 record against WVU and are 7-2 in games played in Norman.
  • In two games last season against WVU, Umoja Gibson finished 17-for-29 (58.6%) shooting from the field and 13-for-21 (61.9%) from three, and averaged 24.0 points per game.
  • Gibson's 29 points in the first meeting against West Virginia Jan. 2, 2021 are a career-high in the Crimson and Cream and were the second-highest point total by a Sooner last season. He finished the contest 10-for-14 from the field and 8-for-11 from three.
  • Austin Reaves and WVU's Derek Culver were both named to the 2021 All-Big 12 First Team. Reaves is member of the Los Angeles Lakers and averages 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

  • Oklahoma holds a 54-17 record in Lloyd Noble Center since 2017. The Sooners have won 83.4% (589-117) of their games in LNC since the building opened in 1975. OU's winning percentage at Lloyd Noble Center is second in the Big 12 only to Kansas' 87.7% at Allen Fieldhouse (830-116).
  • With Oklahoma's victory over Oklahoma State Feb. 26, the Sooners tallied their 10th home victory of the season. It marked the fifth-consecutive season the Sooners have won 10-plus games at home. In the past 41 seasons, only two times (8-8, 2016-17 | 8-6, 1993-94) the Sooners were unable to win 10 games at Lloyd Noble Center.
