Sherfield Named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week

NORMAN – Oklahoma's Grant Sherfield has been named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Sherfield shared the honor with Kansas State's Nae'Qwan Tomlin and it is Sherfield's second newcomer accolade this season.
Sherfield led the Sooners to a 62-53 victory over Florida in the inaugural Jumpman Invitational in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 20. The Fort Worth, Texas product scored 22 points on 7 of 13 shooting. The sharpshooter finished 4 of 6 from deep and scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half.
Sherfield has reached double-digit points in all 12 games this season and has an active streak of 22 consecutive games dating back to his time with Nevada. The 22-point performance is his fifth 20-plus point game of the season.
Sherfield is averaging team highs in points (18.0) and assists (3.8) per game. The senior point guard is shooting 47.3% (71-150) from the field, 56.5% (35-62) from three and 88.6% (39-44) from the free throw line. Sherfield is the NCAA DI leader in 3-point percentage.
The Sooners and Sherfield open Big 12 play at home against Texas on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.
