OU Back on the Course in Stillwater

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams will close out their regular season in Stillwater, Okla., for the Weis-Crockett Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Last time out, the Sooners competed at the Chile Pepper XC Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., and competed against over 30 teams. The women brought home fourth place with a total of 159 points, while the men's squad finished 21st after recording 521 points.

Saturday's meet will be held at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course. The Sooners will be hitting the course with over 40 teams. OU will be facing off against a number of ranked opponents including, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 25 Montana State, and No. 29 California Baptist on the men's side, while the women's side will feature No. 3 Oklahoma State and Cal Baptist and Utah Valley, who are tied at No. 19.

"The team is looking forward to heading up to Stillwater for the Weis-Crockett Invitational," said head coach Hannah Fields. "This is where Nationals will be in a month, so some of the top teams in the country will be there to get familiar with the course, and we're excited to see some great competition. The course is arguably one of the toughest in the nation, so it's a great opportunity to compete and gain experience. We aren't bringing a full crew on either the men's or women's team so that some of our athletes can train through the weekend and be ready to roll for conference. But everyone traveling is feeling good and ready to roll."

The men will run the 8k at 8:30 a.m. CT, while the women toe the line for the 6k at 9:20 a.m. CT. The Sooners will feature five women's runners and four on the men's side.
