NORMAN – – Katherine LeVasseur and Allie Stern went back-to-back with perfect scores on vault to lead the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners to a season opening victory over No. 6 Alabama Sunday afternoon inside the Lloyd Noble Center. OU earned a 197.400 to take the victory as the Crimson Tide scored a 195.875.

The Sooners swept the event titles with LeVasseur and Stern sharing vault. The duo joined an exclusive club with their back-to-back perfection. In 2021, Anastasia Webb and Evy Schoepfer went back-to-back with perfect scores on vault. In 2018, Webb earned a perfect 10 on balance beam and was followed by a perfect score from Maggie Nichols. McKenzie Wofford and Nicole Lehrmann went back-to-back on uneven bars in 2017.

Sophomore Audrey Davis took home the title on bars with a 9.95, while Carly Woodard earned the beam title with a career-high 9.95. Freshman Jordan Bowers secured an event title in her first collegiate meet with a 9.925 on floor. Davis also took home her first career all-around title with a 39.325. 

The Sooners opened with a slight advantage over the Tide, posting a 49.300 on vault to Alabama's 40.250 on bars. The highlight of the rotation was back-to-back perfect scores from LeVassuer and Stern. This is the fourth time in program history the feat has been achieved. Sheridan Ramsey and Meilin Sullivan made their collegiate debuts with a 9.775 and 9.750 on their respective Yurchenko fulls. Davis led off the rotation with a 9.775 on her full.

OU tallied a 49.475 on bars to Alabama's 48.950 on vault to extend its lead in the second rotation. LeVasseur kept up her strong performance with a 9.850 on bars as she nailed her double layout dismount for her second stick of the day. Freshman Danielle Sievers stuck her dismount in her collegiate debut for a 9.850 of her own. Back for the first time since regionals, senior Karrie Thomas showed off her superb handstands and gorgeous double layout for a 9.875. Smith stuck her dismount for a 9.9 and Bowers shined in her bars debut for a 9.9 of her own. Anchoring was Davis with a stuck upgraded dismount for a 9.95.

On beam the Sooners earned a 49.175 to Alabama's 48.575 on floor. Jenna Dunn led things off with a stunning triple series and stuck gainer full dismount for a 9.875. Bowers looked strong and steady in the second spot with a 9.875 of her own. Davis continued an impressive night with a gorgeous routine for another 9.875. Thomas earned a 9.6 in the No. 4 spot. Woodard was exceptional on beam showcasing her beautiful scale and sticking her dismount for a career-best 9.95 in the No. 5 spot.

OU ended the night on floor with a 49.450 to Alabama's 49.100 on beam. Davis led off floor with a 9.725 to close out her first all-around appearance with a 39.325. Bell Johnson showed off a strong double back in the No. 2 spot to earn a 9.9. Back with yet another upbeat and fun routine, Emma LaPinta showcased a strong triple twist and double back for a 9.825 in the No. 3 spot. For just the second time in her career, Woodard competed floor earning a career-best 9.9 in the No. 4 spot. Bowers wrapped up her night in the all-around with a 9.925 for a 39.050 all-around score. Smith anchored with a 9.900 to wrap up the win for the Sooners.

The Sooners will hit the road to Salt Lake City for yet another top-10 matchup at No. 4 Utah. OU and Utah will compete on Friday, Jan. 14 at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
