Sooners Return to Big 12 Play Against TCU

NORMAN – Oklahoma (13-8, 3-5 Big 12) returns to Big 12 play against TCU (14-4, 3-3 Big 12) Monday, Jan. 31 at Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners played their second AP No. 1 team of the season Saturday, Jan. 29 at Auburn in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Oklahoma battled the entire contest but a late run by the Tigers propelled them to victory.

Jordan Goldwire tallied a career day against Auburn and finished with a career-best 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting. Goldwire added four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Umoja Gibson caught fire in the second half and scored 12 of his 14 points. Tanner Groves added 13 points and registered his first multi-block game (2) as a Sooner.

SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS

TCU (14-4, 3-3 Big 12) enters its Monday night clash with the Sooners winners of two of its last three games. The Horned Frogs knocked off then-No. 15 Iowa State 59-44 Jan. 22 and won its Big 12/SEC Challenge matchup vs. No. 19 LSU 77-68 Jan. 29.
Mike Miles leads TCU in points (266) and points per game (15.6). Miles averages 4.1 rebounds per contest and is their team leader with 3.8 assists per contest. Charles O'Bannon is the only other Horned Frog to average double figures (10.1 PPG). Emanuel Miller boasts 6.9 rebounds per game and has 16 blocks this season.
TCU is third in the NCAA in rebound margin (9.7) and fifth in offensive rebounds per game (14.1). The Horned Frogs are seventh in total rebounds per game (41.4) and eighth in fewest fouls (254). All rank as the best in the Big 12 along with defensive rebounds per game (27.3).

TCU VS. OKLAHOMA TIDBITS

Oklahoma and TCU will meet for the 33rd time and the Sooners have won the last eight meetings. OU has won all 14 meetings in Norman.
Oklahoma associate head coach David Patrick spent two seasons as assistant head coach at TCU. The 2016-17 Horned Frogs went 24-15 and won the National Invitation Tournament. The following season (2017-18), TCU went 21-12 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 20 years, earning a No. 6 seed.
In the March 8, 2014 meeting, Oklahoma earned the 30-point victory (97-67) over TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. The victory is tied for the eighth largest road victory margin.

LAST MEETING: OKLAHOMA VS. TCU

TCU topped Oklahoma in the Sooners second overtime game of the season Saturday, Jan. 15 at Schollmaier Arena.
Jalen Hill wrangled a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 12 points against the Horned Frogs. Hill made a critical layup with 1.4 second remaining to force overtime and his 14 rebounds are a team best this season.
Jordan Goldwire tallied 12 points, Elijah Harkless added 11 and Tanner Groves grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Sooners held a 29-27 advantage at the break and the Horned Frogs took advantage of a scoreless streak by the OU to capture the 48-42 lead. After TCU pushed its score to 50, Hill made the game-tying layup under the basket on an inbounds pass.
