MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Oklahoma women's basketball team fell on the road to Kansas State, 94-65, at Bramlage Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
Kansas State center Ayoka Lee, a 2021 honorable mention All-American, set an NCAA Division I record by scoring 61 points. She was 23 of 30 from the field and made 15 of her 17 free throw attempts.
"There's not a lot to say after that one. That was a really incredible performance by Ayoka Lee," head coach Jennie Baranczyk said after the game. "You obviously never want to be on the wrong side of an NCAA record, but I thought that she (Lee) was absolutely phenomenal and we just didn't have an answer."
No. 14 Oklahoma (16-3, 5-2) allowed K-State (15-4, 5-2) to start the game on a 15-0 run and couldn't close the deficit. Taylor Robertson led the Sooners in scoring with 19 points on 5-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range.
The Sooners cut the Wildcat lead to 15 points again in the third quarter after trailing by as many as 25 in the second, but OU couldn't find enough stops to erase the deficit. The Sooners outscored K-State 24-19 in the third, but the 'Cats answered with a 9-2 run to open the fourth and put the game away.
Madi Williams scored in double figures for the 16th time this year, tallying 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Freshman Emma Svoboda led the Sooners with seven rebounds.
On Wednesday, the Sooners return to Norman for Bedlam when they host Oklahoma State (6-10, 1-6) at 6 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center.
