MTN Sweeps Abilene Christian

NORMAN — The No. 24 Oklahoma men's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep over Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon inside the Headington Family Tennis Center. The Sooners are now 4-0 on the season and have swept three of their first four opponents in 2022.

"We're just trying to continue to set the tone everyday," head coach Nick Crowell said. "Bringing it in practice, bringing it early in matches, everything is about setting the tone. The guys came out and did a good job again today. They closed out that doubles point with two victories on the board so it was good to see that."

The Sooners started off the day by winning the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. Mark Mandlik and Baptiste Anselmo struck first with a 6-2 victory over ACU's Savan Chhabra and Riley Tran. On court three, Mason Beiler and Nathan Han dispatched Mihaly Deli and Jose Maria Rastrojo, 6-3, to clinch the first point for OU.

"The doubles point is really big in college tennis," Crowell said. "We put a lot of emphasis on working on it. It's good to see the fruits of our labor coming through right now. We've got to continue to get better. Every day is going to continue to get harder and harder so we're just trying to continue to build."

In singles action, Anselmo continued his winning ways with a quick 6-2, 6-0 victory over Tyler Stewart at the No. 3 spot. Mandlik put the third point on the board for Oklahoma with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Dario Kmet. Clinching the match was Beiler at the premier spot with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Daniel Morozov.

With all matches being played out, three more Sooners picked up victories. Jordan Hassan earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Chhabra at the No. 4 spot, while Han defeated Deli, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 6 line. Closing out the sweep was Justin Schlageter with a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (8) victory over Cesar Barranquero at the No. 5 spot.
