NORMAN — The No. 18 Oklahoma women's tennis team grabbed another win over South Carolina, 5-2, at the Headington Family Tennis Center on Friday.

"I think we just have to keep having fun, that's the biggest thing," said head coach Audra Cohen. "We enjoy competing and it's the greatest privilege to come out with pressure and have this kind of environment."

Starting off the match, Ivana and Carmen Corley took the top line, 6-1, against the No. 37 doubles pair Megan Davies and Allie Gretkowski. Anchisa Chanta and Emma Staker fell to Sarah Hamner and Kendall Couch on the third court, 3-6. To clinch the doubles point, Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva defeated Ayana Akli and Ana Cruz, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot to give the Sooners a 1-0 lead.

In singles, Ivana Corley started OU off with a win, 6-1, 6-0, against Allie Gretkowski on court three. Chanta followed right behind by taking down No. 118 Megan Davies, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot.

The Sooners held a 3-0 lead when Carmen Corley fell to second-ranked in the country Sarah Hamner, 2-6, 2-6, at the top line. The Gamecocks continued with Elise Mills' win over Marcelina Podlinska, 3-6, 2-6, at the No. 6 spot.

Oklahoma clinched the match win with Sleeth taking down No. 28 Ayana Akli, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, after a hard-fought battle on court two. Pisareva played out against Ana Cruz to tally a victory for the Sooners, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, in the No. 5 spot.

"We're grateful for every match," said Cohen. "We just want to get better, have fun, and compete our best for every point."
