Sooners Fall to OSU in Tulsa

May 11, 2021 | Baseball

TULSA, Okla. – Peyton Graham homered for the third consecutive game and Kendall Pettis notched two hits and drove in a run, but the Oklahoma baseball team fell to Oklahoma State 7-3 Tuesday night at ONEOK Field.
Ā
Graham's home run – his 10th of the season – was a solo shot to left field in the eighth inning and made the score 7-2. Pettis, who was 2 for 4 in the game, singled home Logan Kohler in the ninth inning to reach the final tally. The Sooners fell to 24-23 while the Cowboys are now 28-15-1.
Ā
Oklahoma tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second on three straight singles and an error. Conor McKenna and Jace Bohrofen drove base hits to the outfield, and Brandon Zaragoza bunted for a base hit. McKenna scored on the miscue when the throw to first after Zaragoza's bunt went down the right field line.
Ā
Kohler, who entered the game at second base in the seventh inning, hit a one-out triple in the bottom of the ninth, then scored on Pettis' base hit into center field.
Ā
Oklahoma State scored a run in the top of the first on a walk, then took a 5-1 lead with four runs in the fourth inning and added two more runs in the sixth. Christian Encarnacion-Strand finished with three hits, including an RBI double in the fourth inning, and Cade Cabbiness drove in three runs, including singles in the fourth and sixth innings.
Ā
Luke Taggart struck out three batters over the seventh and eighth innings, Carson Carter tossed a scoreless ninth and Christian Ruebeck finished with four strikeouts over 2.0 frames. Ben Abram pitched 2.1 innings, allowing only one hit and one walk. Noah Sifrit (1-0) earned the win with 3.0 relief innings and Javier Ramos (2-1) took the loss.
Ā
Oklahoma will face Texas Tech this weekend in its final home series of the season at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Sooners will honor seniors in a ceremony prior to the game on Sunday.
