TULSA, Okla. – Peyton Graham homered for the third consecutive game and
Kendall Pettis notched two hits and drove in a run, but the Oklahoma baseball team fell to Oklahoma State 7-3 Tuesday night at ONEOK Field.
Graham's home run – his 10th of the season – was a solo shot to left field in the eighth inning and made the score 7-2. Pettis, who was 2 for 4 in the game, singled home
Logan Kohler in the ninth inning to reach the final tally. The Sooners fell to 24-23 while the Cowboys are now 28-15-1.
Oklahoma tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second on three straight singles and an error.
Conor McKenna and
Jace Bohrofen drove base hits to the outfield, and
Brandon Zaragoza bunted for a base hit. McKenna scored on the miscue when the throw to first after Zaragoza's bunt went down the right field line.
Kohler, who entered the game at second base in the seventh inning, hit a one-out triple in the bottom of the ninth, then scored on Pettis' base hit into center field.
Oklahoma State scored a run in the top of the first on a walk, then took a 5-1 lead with four runs in the fourth inning and added two more runs in the sixth. Christian Encarnacion-Strand finished with three hits, including an RBI double in the fourth inning, and Cade Cabbiness drove in three runs, including singles in the fourth and sixth innings.
Luke Taggart struck out three batters over the seventh and eighth innings,
Carson Carter tossed a scoreless ninth and
Christian Ruebeck finished with four strikeouts over 2.0 frames.
Ben Abram pitched 2.1 innings, allowing only one hit and one walk. Noah Sifrit (1-0) earned the win with 3.0 relief innings and
Javier Ramos (2-1) took the loss.
Oklahoma will face Texas Tech this weekend in its final home series of the season at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Sooners will honor seniors in a ceremony prior to the game on Sunday.
