OU Shuts Out UT-Arlington in Home Finale

NORMAN – The No. 20 Oklahoma men's tennis team sealed the 2021 home slate with a 4-0 win over UT-Arlington on Tuesday.

The Sooners took the doubles point to open the match. At the top spot, No. 28 Alex Martinez and Nathan Han ran passed the Mavs' Alejandro Hayen and Alan Sau Franco 6-3. In their first match together this year, Mason Beiler and Jake Van Emburgh topped Miguel Cabrera and Angel Diaz 6-4 on court three.

When play was halted, OU's Mark Mandlik and Max Stewart trailed Nick Beamish and Solan Caffarena 5-4 at the No. 2 line.

Welsh Hotard was the first Sooner off the court in singles, powering past Daichi Akiyoshi 6-3, 6-1 on court six.

Martinez struck next, picking up his third straight singles win with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Cabrera on court three.

Big 12 Player of the Week and ITA No. 111 Beiler completed the sweep as he put away Diaz 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 line.

No. 108 Jake Van Emburgh trailed UTA's Sau Franco 4-2 in the second set after taking set one 6-3 at the top spot when the match was
abandoned. On court four, Han led Hayen 2-1 in the second set after coming out on top of a first set tiebreaker 7-6 (6). Mandlik was up 3-1 in the second set with Caffarena. Caffarena took the opening frame 7-6 (3).

The Sooners close out 2021 on the road with stops at Texas (April 9), TCU (April 11) and Oklahoma State (April 18).
