Sooners Open Postseason at Big 12 Championship
April 16, 2021 | Women's Golf
THE WOODLANDS, Texas — The Sooners head to The Club at Carlton Woods for the 2021 Big 12 Championship on April 18-20, as the team seeks its seventh all-time conference championship. Oklahoma, led by 12th-year head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell, last won the Big 12 in 2014 when the team fired a conference-record 278 in the third round to win the championship.
"We're extremely grateful to be competing in the postseason again," Drouin-Luttrell said. "The way to approach this event is as if it's a new season, and whatever happened before this event doesn't necessarily matter. We must play our own game and really take it one day, one hole and one shot at a time. This course is phenomenal, and we can't wait to get out there."
The Sooners finished inside the top five in four of their five tournaments in 2020-21 and have finished inside the top five in six of its last seven events, dating back to last season. The team owns 13 top-fives in the previous four seasons. Oklahoma concluded its regular season with a stroke-play scoring average of 289.47, the second-lowest mark in program history. Drouin-Luttrell's teams have rewritten the record book in Norman, tallying the top 12 scoring averages in program history, carding sub-300 averages every season since Drouin-Luttrell arrived in 2009.
