NORMAN — No. 26 Oklahoma fell to No. 25 Oklahoma State 4-2 at the Headington Family Tennis Center Friday evening.
Mark Mandlik and Welsh Hotard notched singles victories for the Sooners (7-7).
The Sooners gave up the doubles point as Oklahoma State claimed courts one and two. At the No. 2 spot, Sooners Jake Van Emburgh and Matt Rodriguez fell to the Cowboys' Dominik Kellovsky and Emile Hudd 6-3. Oklahoma's Alex Martinez and Nathan Han fell 6-4 at the top spot against Matej Vocel and Henrik Korsgaard.
When play stopped, Mason Beiler and Max Stewart trailed Mathieu Scaglia andMaxim Tybar 5-4 on court three.
In singles play, Mark Mandlik put the Sooners on the board after taking court four. The sophomore defeated OSU's No. 61 Dominik Kellovsky 6-3, 6-4 to earn the team point and his first win over a ranked opponent this season.
In the sixth spot, Hotard won the tie breaker to win the Sooners a point. The freshman notched a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Etienne Donnet and improves to 3-0 on the year.
Van Emburgh fell to No. 49 Vocel 6-3, 6-3 at the top spot. Martinez sent his match to three sets but dropped to No. 86 Henrik Korsgaard 4-6, 6-3, 6-0,. No. 69 Beiler also took his match to a third set, but fell short to No. 101 Hudd 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-4 on court three.
When play was halted, Han was up 6-7 (4), 6-4, 5-3 at the No. 5 line.
The Sooners travel to Dallas, Texas to play No. 31 Texas Tech, Sunday at noon.
