DALLAS – The No. 26 OU men's tennis team fell to No. 31 Texas Tech 4-1 on Sunday in Dallas.
Nathan Han came away with a singles win while Han and
Alex Martinez picked up a doubles victory.
In doubles,
Alex Martinez and Han shut out Tech's Parker Wynn and Franco Ribero 6-0 on court one, but Tech took the opening point. On court two,
Max Stewart and
Welsh Hotard fell to Arevalo and Collier 6-3. The point came down to court three, where
Jake Van Emburgh and
Matt Rodriguez battled Dimitrios Azoidis and Ilgiz Valiev to a tiebreaker, but fell 7-6 (4).
Han held on for a three-set win over No. 115 Reed Collier on court five in singles. The Sooner took the opening set 6-1 before Collier took set two 6-2 to force a deciding frame. Han prevailed in the final set, 6-3.
On court three, OU's
Mark Mandlik fell to Franco Ribero 6-3, 6-4.
Justin Schlageter was defeated by Dimitrios Azoidis, 6-3, 6-4 on court five.
Welsh Hotard was defeated by Isaac Arevalo after three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 on court six.
When play was halted, No. 69 Beiler was tied at 5-all in the third set with No. 37 Wynn on court one. Beiler took the first set 6-3 before Wynn won set two 6-4. Martinez was also tied in his third set, locked in at 4-4 with No. 93 Valiev. The Sooner gave up the first set 6-4 but held on to win the second 7-5 and force a third.
