NORMAN – Nine members of the Oklahoma wrestling team appear in the week five batch of weight class rankings, with the team moving up a spot to No. 17 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll as they prepare for Bedlam this weekend.
Last weekend
Lou Rosselli's squad competed in the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., one the most prestigious and competitive tournaments in all of collegiate wrestling, with four Sooners earning spots on the awards podium Saturday night.
Jake Woodley (8/11/9),
Darrien Roberts (18/18/17),
Mitch Moore (15/15/12), and
Justin Thomas (17/15/19) each heard their name called at the award ceremonies in Las Vegas after an impressive weekend of wrestling. The four came away with the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh places respectively in their weights and all four are ranked inside the top-20 this week.
Joe Grello (NR/29/NR) picked up his first wins in the Crimson and Cream in Las Vegas, including a ranked win over South Dakota State's Tanner Cook.
At heavyweight, redshirt sophomore
Josh Heindselman (HM/NR/NR) is an honorable mention in the FloWrestling rankings after splitting his matches over the weekend.
Joey Prata (19/21/19),
Tony Madrigal (14/19/16), and
Dom Demas (14/6/7) were all inactive over the weekend, but are poised to wrestle on Sunday.
