Saturday, Nov. 20 / 4 p.m. CT / Imperial Arena / Atlantis, The Bahamas
NORMAN – Oklahoma faces its toughest test of the young season Saturday evening when it takes on No. 9 Oregon in the first round of the inaugural Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis. The Sooners seek their first win over a top-10 team in the AP Poll since a 74-73 win over No. 8 Texas in 2017.
The Sooners and Ducks have met twice, with both meetings coming in the last decade. OU got the best of Oregon at the 2012 Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu, claiming a 39-point win. But the Ducks got their revenge in Eugene in 2017, defeating the Sooners 94-72.
ON THE AIR
The game will be broadcast on Flo Hoops with a 4 p.m. CT tip, with Jill Painter Lopez, Helen Williams and Dani Wexelman on the call. Taylor Maples will provide radio coverage on the Sooner Sports Network.
THE STARTING FIVE
- The Sooners enter Saturday's matchup undefeated for the first time since that 2016-17 season, following a 78-54 win over Central Arkansas on Tuesday night. OU forced the Sugar Bears into 28 turnovers, the most for an Oklahoma opponent in five years.
- Saturday's game kicks off the inaugural Women's Battle 4 Atlantis. The Sooners were chosen to participate in the event, completing a field that includes No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 UConn, No. 9 Oregon, No. 23 South Florida, Minnesota, Syracuse and Buffalo.
- Baranczyk leads a roster that has combined for 454 appearances and over 12,700 minutes played at the Division I level. OU's three All-Big 12 seniors in Ana Llanusa, Madi Williams and Taylor Robertson are joined by five other returners, four freshmen and two transfers to comprise the 14-player roster.
- The Sooners are led by a trio of seniors in Ana Llanusa, Taylor Robertson, and Madi Williams, who have each scored over 1,000 points in their OU careers. Oklahoma is the only school in the Big 12 Conference with three 1,000-point scorers and one of just six nationally (DePaul, Florida Gulf Coast, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech).
- With the announcement that the NCAA Women's Tournament will expand to 68, ESPN released updated bracketology on Nov. 17. Creme moved the Sooners up one seed line to No. 10 in the Spokane region. A staple of the NCAA postseason, Oklahoma has appeared in 21 NCAA Tournaments, including 19 since the turn of the century. The Sooners' 21 appearances in the tournament are the second most in the Big 12 Conference and tied for 23rd most in NCAA history.
