Women's Tennis to Host No. 3 Texas

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team hosts No. 3 Texas Saturday in the first Red River matchup of the season.

The match, which will not count toward the teams' Big 12 records, is slated to begin at 3 p.m. CT.

 
Last Time Out

Oklahoma (3-0) topped Tulsa 6-1 in its last outing. OU took the doubles point for the third straight match, highlighted by a 6-0 win by the Corley sisters at the top spot. Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley shut out the No. 22 pair in the nation in Tulsa's Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner.

The Sooners reeled off five more singles wins to bury the Golden Hurricane, including Carmen Corley's 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over No. 86 Okalova at the top spot. Corley was named Big 12 Player of the Week for her pair of ranked wins against Tulsa.
 

Scouting Texas

Texas comes into the match at 4-0 overall. The No. 3 Longhorns have swept each of their four opponents this spring with all matches played in Austin.

Four Texas players checked in to the ITA singles rankings: No. 5 Anna Turati, No. 66 Peyton Stearns. No. 94 Lulu Sun, No. 125 Charlotte Chavatipon. Turati and Fernanda Labraña are No. 48 in doubles.

OU Athletics has announced that fans will not be admitted for 2021 matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center due to limited seating capacity related to COVID-19 precautions. Home and visitor student-athletes will receive a limited number of complimentary tickets on a pass-list basis.
