OU Falls to No. 6 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to No. 6 TCU 4-0 Sunday in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Championship match.
OU (2-2) advanced to the final by way of a 4-0 sweep of No. 12 Wake Forest Saturday to set up a meeting with the Horned Frogs. TCU (3-0) claimed the doubles point, then captured singles victories on the top three courts.
In doubles, OU's Mark Mandlik and Welsh Hotard fell to Juan Martin and Bertus Kruger 6-2 on court three. Max Stewart and Jake Van Emburgh were defeated by TCU's Luc Fomba and Alastair Gray 6-3 at the top spot and the Horned Frogs secured the doubles point.
When play was stopped, Sooners Nathan Han and Alex Martinez trailed No. 24 Sander Jong and Tadeas Paroulek 5-4 on court two.
In singles action, Van Emburgh fell to No. 123 Jong 6-3, 6-3 on court three. No. 69 Mason Beiler was defeated by No. 47 Fomba, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 2 line. Mandlik pushed No. 21 Gray to a first set tiebreaker, but fell 7-6, 6-1 at the top spot and TCU claimed the match.
Martinez had just forced a third set with Tomas Jirousek on court four when play was halted. Martinez dropped the first set 6-2 but roared back to win set two 6-3.
Justin Schlageter trailed TCU's Kruger 7-5, 5-4 on court five. Han was just a game into his match on six, trailing Martin 1-0.
