Volleyball Announces Addition of Grace Talpash

NORMAN — Oklahoma volleyball coach Lindsey Gray-Walton announced Thursday the addition of transfer Grace Talpash, who will join the Sooners for the 2020 season and have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
'We are thrilled to welcome Grace to the University and our Oklahoma volleyball program," Gray-Walton said. "Early in our conversations, our staff felt a connection with Grace and a commitment towards her personal goals while working within the framework of a team and the program's goals. As a competitor, Grace is relentless and takes chances in her position. Complimented by a willingness to learn and hunger to compete at a high level, we felt it was a match from the beginning. The possibilities are endless for a student, person & players at a place like Oklahoma. We believe in that process and can't wait to get started this fall with Grace in the Crimson & Cream!'
A native of Temecula, Calif., Talpash comes to Oklahoma after spending the first season of her collegiate career at the University of San Francisco. Talpash is a 5-8 setter who notched a career-high 18 assists in her first collegiate match.
"I chose Oklahoma because of the amazing coaching staff, state-of-the-art facilities and the once in a lifetime opportunity to represent a university with such a deep tradition in sports," Talpash said. "When I first visited OU, it had such a friendly atmosphere and I knew it was where I wanted to be."
In her lone season at USF, Talpash appeared in eight matches, notching four double-digit assist performances. She added six kills and three aces, along with 32 digs before suffering a season-ending injury.
Talpash was a multi-sport letterwinner in volleyball and golf at Great Oak High School in Temecula, Calif. She and her high school team went 22-9 in 2018 and made the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division I playoffs. She played club volleyball with the Southern California Forza One Volleyball Club, finishing fifth at the US Junior Nationals Open Elite Division in 2019.
