Five Sooners Secure 14 All-America Honors

NORMAN — Five members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team combined to secure eight regular season All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).

Seniors Evy Schoepfer, Karrie Thomas and Anastasia Webb and freshmen Audrey Davis and Katherine LeVasseur all received recognition from the association.

Regular season All-America honors are based on an individual's final national qualifying score (NQS) prior to regional competition. First team honorees are ranked 1-8 nationally, and second team designees are ranked 9-16.

The Sooners had at least one gymnast recognized on every event and in the all-around and two gymnasts honored on three events.

Webb paced the Sooners, earning four All-America honors. The senior earned first-team honors on vault, beam and in the all-around and second-team honors on floor. Webb finished the regular season ranked No. 1Ā in the nation on vault, No. 3 on beam, No. 5 in the all-around and No. 10 on floor. The Morton Grove, Ill., native now has a total of 12 career accolades.

Schoepfer and Thomas each earned their first All-American nods. Schoepfer, the No. 1 ranked gymnast in the nation on vault, earned first-team accolades on the event. Thomas was named to the second team on balance beam.

Davis and LeVasseur were both honored for the first time in their careers. Davis, ranked No. 4 on bars nationally, earned first team honors. LeVasseur earned second team honors on bars as the 11th ranked athlete on the event.

The Sooners will have the weekend off before heading to regional competition in Tuscaloosa, Ala., April 1-3. OU is the No. 1 seed at the Tuscaloosa Regional and will face No. 15 Auburn, TEAM and TEAM in the second round.
