NORMAN – The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team posted the nation's best score of the season with an incredible 198.400 victory over West Virginia (195.575) and Texas Woman's (193.875) inside Lloyd Noble Center.

The mark is the third-best in program history and just .100 off the program record of 198.500. The Sooners now own four of the top five scores in the nation this season and three scores of 198 or higher.

Senior Maggie Nichols stole the show as she earned the 20th and 21st perfect 10s of her career. The Little Canada, Minn., native took home the vault and bars titles with perfect 10s on each event. Nichols now has eight perfect marks on vault and four on bars.

Junior Anastasia Webb took home the all-around title for the fourth meet in a row as she notched a 39.650, just .025 off her career best. Webb also took home the floor title with a career-high 9.950. Freshman Ragan Smith walked away with the beam crown for the second-straight meet with a 9.950.

The Sooners started the meet with a bang as they posted a program-record 49.775 on vault, debuting a lineup of six 10.0 start value vaults.

"First of all, the vault rotation was unbelievable," head coach K.J. Kindler said. "That's a school record, which I mean, these days it's really difficult to earn a school record, especially with the great athletes that walk through these doors. It means even more now knowing that you have to hit so high to get that school record. These three (Olivia, Allie, Maggie) could have all been ten's in my opinion and they all did get a ten of some sort. This vault lineup is really something to be reckoned with. It's the first time this season that we've competed six 10.00 vaults. Kudos to the vault team."

Sophomore Olivia Trautman stuck her vault cold for a career-high 9.975 in just her second time vaulting in 2019. Following Trautman was fellow sophomore Allie Stern who performed the best vault of her career with a stick for a career-best 9.975.

"Olivia, only her second time in the vault line up this year, that's' how you want to start a meet," Kindler said. "That vault was electric; it lit up the whole team. Allie, best vault I've ever seen her do, in practice or in meets, and just floated down and landed with complete control. An amazing execution."

"It was great," Stern said. "The past couple of meets were so close, and I came in this meet just wanting to nail it. That was my focus the whole meet. I didn't really over try to stick it, I just focused on the follow through and it worked."

Senior Jade Degouveia added a 9.9 in the No. 3 spot to keep the rotation going strong. Junior Anastasia Webb notched a 9.925 with a stuck 1.5 to bring up Nichols. The senior notched her third perfect 10 of the season on the event to help the Sooners secure the program record total.

The Sooners kept the fire burning in the LNC as they notched a 49.550 on bars in the second rotation. Nichols anchored with her second 10 of the night and her fourth on the event.

Webb led things off with a 9.875, followed by a 9.875 from Trautman. Freshman Vanessa Deniz notched a career high 9.9 as she stuck her double back dismount. Degouveia added a 9.875 in the No. 4 spot and freshman Ragan Smith tallied a 9.9 in the No. 5 spot.

On beam, OU used a 49.575 to keep their incredible night rolling. On her last event of the night, Trautman led off the third rotation with a beautiful beam routine and stuck dismount for a 9.9. Junior beam specialist Carly Woodard was gorgeous in the No. 3 spot as she added a 9.9 of her own.

Smith stunned the crowd with her routine, earning her third straight score of 9.95 or better on the event with a 9.95 in the No. 4 spot. Webb was elegant and poised as always as she kept the streak of 9.9s going with a 9.9 in the No. 5 spot. Nichols finished her night with a 9.925 on a gorgeous routine as the anchor. Ā

"Balance beam, we had a couple of balance checks," Kindler said. "I think that we can be a little bit better than that. We had a few things that could definitely get better. This beam team has been hitting routine after routine after routine. I'm really proud of their consistency quite honestly. That's what beam is all about, consistency. You might not be getting that 10.00 or 9.95 every week, but hitting that routine every week, that's hugely important when it comes to that post season."

OU notched its fourth event score of 49.500 or better with a 49.500 on floor to close out an electric night. Junior Jordan Draper showed off her energetic floor choreography for a leadoff 9.875. Smith wrapped up her three event night with powerful tumbling on her double back and double pike for a 9.875 of her own. In the No. 3 spot, Degouveia showed off her fierceness with incredible tumbling for a 9.875.

"I thought the starter Jordan, electric routine," Kindler said. "Ragan Smith had an amazing second routine. Her best routine of the year regardless of what the score indicates. I really thought her performance was the best of the year. Jade and Vanessa jumping into the lineup. Emma was just a little off on that last pass. This team's score is huge, we asked them to be on fire tonight, and I think they definitely achieved that. I'm really excited about this result and the work that went into it.

Deniz picked up a career high in the No. 4 spot as she showed off gorgeous choreography for a 9.925. In the anchor spot, Webb earned herself a career high as she tallied a 9.95 to close out the meet. Ā

"Anastasia trains so well in the gym," Nichols said. "Everyone on the team has so much trust in her, the coaches do, every one of the girls do. On floor, I think she's incredible. Putting her in the anchor spot is perfect for her. She has a great dance, too. She's a perfect fit on floor. Anchoring her, we just have so much trust in her and it's amazing to watch her."

The Sooners will be back in action at the annual Perfect 10 Challenge on Friday, Feb. 21, in Oklahoma City, Okla. The meet will be held inside the Cox Convention Center as the Sooners take on Stanford.
