NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's basketball team split the 2020 Bedlam series with Oklahoma State as OU fell to the Cowgirls 73-69 in Tuesday in Norman.
With the loss, OU moves to 12-12 on the season and 5-7 against the Big 12. Oklahoma State improves to 14-10 and 5-7 in league play.
"I thought Oklahoma State played really well," said head coach
Sherri Coale. "I don't think we played at well, especially offensively. I thought we looked really unconnected in the second half on how we were defending. I give them credit. [Natasha] Mack and [Vivian] Gray were really good."
Oklahoma State's Gray scored 24 points and Mack had a double-double of 32 points and 18 rebounds as the Cowgirls outshot OU 50.8%-41.5% from the field.
Ana Llanusa led all scorers with 26 points on the night while pulling down five rebounds.
Madi Williams scored 19 and
Taylor Robertson joined them in double figures with 11.
Mandy Simpson collected 15 boards, marking the second time this season an OU player has had 15 or more after Williams pulled down 16 against Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 20.
A back-and-forth first half saw OU with a 32-31 lead headed into the locker room. The Sooners had a 13-0 run across the second and third quarters before Oklahoma State took a 50-47 lead at the end of third. OSU narrowly outscored the Sooners 23-22 in the final quarter to take the game despite two late 3-pointers from Llanusa in the final eight seconds.
