NORMAN — Oklahoma running back Rhamondre Stevenson was named the Big 12 co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three touchdowns in the Sooners' 62-28 win at Texas Tech, the league office announced Monday.
A senior from Las Vegas, Nev., Stevenson rushed 13 times for a game-high 87 yards (6.7 average) and a set a career high with his three scores. His first carry of the season resulted in a 6-yard touchdown that tied the game at 7, and he added 1-yard scoring runs in the first and second quarters as the Sooners built a 48-14 halftime lead.
Stevenson's return to the lineup was a welcome one, as he helped OU rush for season highs of 213 yards and 5.5 yards per carry. He also caught two passes for 13 yards. It was his first career multiple-TD game and he became the first OU running back to score three times since Kennedy Brooks vs. Oklahoma State in 2018.
This is the first career weekly Big 12 honor for Stevenson. OU has garnered seven Big 12 honors this year, by five players. Quarterback Spencer Rattler was named Newcomer of the Week and kicker Stephen Johnson was named Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 14 while running back T.J. Pledger was named Offensive Player of the Week and David Ugwoegbu was named the Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 12, and Marvin Mims was named co-Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 26.
Oklahoma (4-2, 3-2 Big 12) is back home Saturday to face Kansas (0-6, 0-5 Big 12) at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
