TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team shined Saturday afternoon, picking up a 197.675-194.600 victory over No. 14 Arizona State inside Desert Financial Arena.

The Sooners posted the high score on all four events and took home a share of each event title. OU tallied a 49.350 on vault, 49.400 on bars, 49.550 on beam and a 49.375 on floor.

Senior Maggie Nichols earned the all-around title with a nation-best 39.750. Nichols also earned the vault title with a 9.95, floor with a 9.925 and beam with a near perfect 9.975. Freshman Ragan Smith took home the bars title with a 9.925.

"The most exciting thing about Maggie is how much she's trusting herself and how much her team and her coaches trust her," head coach K.J. Kindler said. "Every time she steps out on the floor you just have so much faith. I think that she has shown and grown to have that faith in herself. I do think she's incredible happy and savoring every last minute of every single meet."

OU started things off strong on bars, posting a 49.400 and putting up just five athletes on the apparatus. Junior Anastasia Webb led off with a solid 9.85, followed by a beautiful routine from senior Jade Degouveia that matched her career high 9.875. In the No. 3 spot, junior Karrie Thomas stuck her double layout dismount for a 9.85.

The high score of the rotation came from freshman Ragan Smith who tallied a 9.925 in the No. 4 spot to take home the event title. Nichols anchored with a 9.9 as the Sooners led 49.400-48.825 after one rotation.

The Sooners moved to vault posting a 49.350 to take a 98.750-97.725 lead after the second rotation. Freshman Brooke Weins made her collegiate debut with a strong Yurchenko full for a career high 9.825.

"It was good for Brooke to get out there," Kindler said. "She has so much to learn, as all the freshman do. Having that moment and feeling those nerves and being able to be successful like that will propel her as we move forward in season."

Sophomore Allie Stern set a career high with a gorgeous Yurchenko 1.5 and a near stick for a 9.9. Degouveia added another 9.875 on the day, with Webb notching a 9.8 in the No. 4 spot. Nichols was almost perfect in the No. 5 spot, tallying a 9.95 on an incredible Yurchenko 1.5.

On floor, OU posted a 49.375 to move to a 148.125 after three rotations. Junior Jordan Draper got things started with a season-high 9.875. Smith notched a career-high in the No. 2 spot with a 9.9 as she stuck the landing of her double pike to end her routine.

Degouveia showed off her powerful tumbling for a 9.775 in the No. 3 spot. Webb showed off her gorgeous choreography for a 9.9 in the No. 5 spot, while Nichols anchored with a 9.925 for the high score of the rotation.

OU closed out the victory on beam, posting a 49.550. Junior Karrie Thomas led things off by matching her career high with a 9.875. In the No. 2 spot, Oklahoma native Jenna Dunn tallied a career-high 9.825, showcasing her incredible triple series. Consistent and poised as always, junior Carly Woodard showed off her beautiful routine for a season-high 9.925.

In the No. 4 spot, Webb put up her second score of 9.9 on the night to finish with a 39.450 in the all-around. Smith added a 9.875 in the No. 5 position, while Nichols was near perfection in the anchor spot, posting a 9.975.
