NORMAN – Oklahoma soccer forward
Kaylee Dao has been chosen as one of 30 candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in college soccer.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School," the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
A two-time All-Big 12 first team honoree and 2018 All-Region second team honoree, Dao has started every game for the Sooners and played all but 12 minutes this season. Through 10 games, Dao leads the team with seven goals, including two game winners and three penalty kick conversions. Dao's seven goals ranks third in the Big 12 and her three penalty kicks ranks first. Additionally, she has moved in to fourth all-time in OU history with 22 career goals and fourth all-time with eight game winners.
Dao completed her undergraduate degree with a double major in environmental sustainability and social sciences and organizational studies in Aug. 2019. A redshirt senior, she is working toward a master's degree in human relations and currently boasts a 4.0 GPA.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Women's College Cup championship in December.
